Cup Life on a boat
When we caught up with Morgan Haakma, her life as new zealand's wakeboarding champion two years running and switching between The USa and NZ summers for training had us dreaming of sunny days spent on the water, being able to shred as good as her!
NZ Open Women's Wakeboarding Champion for 2018 and 2019
WWA Amateur Wakeboard World Champion in 2017
What led you to try the Hoo Haa Cup?
I had heard of menstrual cups before but never really knew of anyone using them or how they worked. When Krissie started selling the Hoo Haa Cups I knew they would be trustworthy and would be so good, so I decided to give them a go!
Would you say you're a cup convert?
Yes! I love not having to worry about changing out all the time or if I have enough supplies to get me through etc, the cup is so easy to put in and forget about for the rest of the day/night.
As the NZ Open Women's Wakeboarding champion for 2018 and 2019, has the cup held up to long days on the boat and your training schedule?
Yes for sure, that is my favourite thing about it! Especially when I'm on the boat the whole day and there are no opportunities to sneak off to the bathroom, the cup is amazing because I just don't have to worry about it at all!
How long did it take you to get used to using the cup?
It did take me a little while to figure it out, and once I cut the stem a bit it was so much better. It still takes me the first day of every period to figure out again but after that it's solid. I've been using it about 10 months now.
Would you recommend to your friends and other water sport athletes?
For sure! Better for the environment, better for your body, better for your wallet and takes the stress out of training through shark week! Win win win!
What do you love most about your Hoo Haa menstrual cup?
I reckon the colours made it less scary to try haha, but for real, I love how I can't feel it inside at all and that I can carry on doing whatever I'm doing and don't even realise I have my period at all.
Do you have anything else You would like to add...??
I would just encourage everyone to give it a really good go at using them because at first, it takes a little bit to figure out, but so do most things in life, but if you keep on trying it's honestly so much better in the long run!
